Oct 30, 2013 · I thought it was odd that some Ski-doo cranks were letting loose at 2500 miles. From researching, many riders were getting 5,000 to even 9,000 miles out of their cranks. Some took the time to remove the PTO seal and grease the bearing, while others did not, and were lucky.

Now the warranty is reduced to 2yrs or should I say 2 short sledding seasons. Brp knows but these 850 are far from 4 stroke reliability. Probably better than the old 800 mills, but still not great for a 25k initial purchase price. It all depends on how much you ride. Sounds like they didn't renew their security certificate. I'm guessing someone dropped the ball and forgot to renew it, or it did get renewed and they forgot to upload the new security cert to the domain. From the times I've ridden it I can say the following: Pros: * enough power to be fun to ride. * doesn't "feel" super heavy on the trail. * comfortable to ride. * normal 4-stroke stuff -- no oil, quiet, etc. Cons: Drill a dozen or so 1/2-3/4" holes across the dash in front of the gauges. Underneath the hood, install a fan or two in the black panel plastic panel that covers the underside of the gauges. Watch the clearance with stuff under the hood, you'll have to find the right spot for the fan (s). Works great!Fixed the Electronic Fuel gage on my 1998 Ski-Doo Grand Touring 583 !
